Georg Alber

Historische Rallye-EM 2001

GA Georg Alber, born 1951, goes in the racing sports since about 40 years. Early in the 70ies he started his carriere with national and international rallyes on Peugeot, later Opel Kadett and Fiat, and was very sucessfully in the Mitropa-Cup. Even on European- and Worldchampionship runs like the RAC-Rallye 1978 he was able to show his drivers qualities.

Early in the 80ies he switched with a Skoda RS 130 to track- and mountain races. 1982-1983 he became European champion in Mountain-racing and 1985 he was able to win the Alpen-Donau-Cup.

1986 Georg Alber started in the European Touring Car Championship with Toyota. The team Alber/Charouz was 1987 and 1988 vice champion of their division. But the biggest success of his career was surely the win of the Grand Prix of Brno 1987, a run of the World Touring Car Championship.

Among his active racing he founded in the middle of the 80ies the company GA together with his wife Annemarie. What was at the beginning more hobby, had developed in a big business and demanded the complete engagement of the boss. For this reason he had not more time to continue his racing career such intensive like before, so that he was only in action at several rallies or the Interserie (on CanAm).

Today he brings his long time experience in the developement of the GA-racing-products and drives „just for fun” (!!) Rallies on a Porsche 911 from 1965.2003 Georg Alber became the FIA European Historic Rallye Champion … not though bad for the old house …!
